Vacation
So at the end of my fifth week of my new job I had to go out of town again. Sure it was only for two days (really only 1 1/2 days) due to the lack of available engineers because they are all at the place I was stuck at for 9 weeks. It could have been much worse...I could be at the other place this week. Instead I am burning some vacation and loving it. Kate is in Muskegon with Charlotte and I am home alone. I really need the break.
After driving to and from Indianapolis (for work..as above) I then drove to Chicago for our 5 year anniversary. Everything would have been fine had in also not been "taste of Chicago" weekend and had Chicago not decided to rebuild every highway. It took us 5 hours to get from Kzoo to our hotel in downtown Chicago.
We had a late lunch at Maggiono's which was quite nice. We had beers, a full order of the stuffed mushrooms, and then split a full order of gnocchi. Other than my surprising inability to keep glasses upright everything was great.
After a brief rest at the hotel (thank you priority club points) we taxi'd over to the theatre to see 'Wicked'. While the first act was much longer than I expected (1.5 hours) it was excellent. The best part was that Kate and I had a great time. The next best part was that we didn't fight. {I would like to add that Kate looked amazing in her dress.}
We had to get out of Chicago early to pick up Charlotte from Beth's so our trip was short but nice.
Today I bought some things to finish the 10gal mash tun with the bottom drain and a Japanese Beetle trap for the buggers that have been eating my hop plants.
So far a great vacation.
